Getting Started
How do I start my free trial?
Open CandleStudio and complete the onboarding. When prompted on the final screen, tap "Start 14-day free trial." You can also tap "Maybe later" to explore the free tier first. No credit card is required until you choose to subscribe.
What's included in the free tier?
The free tier includes:
- Unlimited calculator usage
- Up to 3 vessels
- Up to 5 supplies
- Up to 5 projects
- 1 invoice per month
What does Pro include?
Pro unlocks everything: unlimited vessels, supplies, projects, and invoices; full burn test logging; cure-time push notifications; PDF invoice export; and all future features.
Batch Calculator
What wax types are supported?
CandleStudio supports Soy (0.86 g/mL), Paraffin (0.90 g/mL), Coconut (0.92 g/mL), Beeswax (0.96 g/mL), and Parasoy blends. Each type uses its correct density for precise batch calculations.
How is fragrance load calculated?
CandleStudio uses the Total Content Method: Fragrance (oz) = Wax (oz) × Fragrance Load %. Presets of 6%, 8%, 10%, and 12% are provided. A safety warning appears if you enter over 12%, as high loads can affect burn quality.
What vessel shapes are supported?
Round (jars, tumblers, tins), Square, Rectangle, and Oval. Enter your dimensions and CandleStudio calculates fill volume automatically.
Vessel Library
How do I add a vessel?
Tap the + button on the Vessels tab. Enter a name, type, and dimensions. CandleStudio automatically calculates the volume. You can also quick-select from 4 common vessels during onboarding.
Can I use a saved vessel in the calculator?
Yes — tap "Calculate Pour →" on any vessel card to pre-fill the calculator with that vessel's dimensions.
Project Costing
How does the margin slider work?
The Margin Reveal slider shows your profit margin in real time as you adjust your selling price. The price color changes from red (losing money) to amber (covering costs) to gold (healthy profit). Haptic feedback fires at 50% and 70% margin thresholds.
What costs are tracked?
CandleStudio tracks materials (supplies linked to the project), labor (hours × hourly rate), and overhead percentage. All three combine to show your true cost per candle.
How do I link supplies to a project?
Open a project, then tap "Add Supply" in the Materials section. Select a supply from your inventory and enter the quantity used. The cost is calculated automatically from your supply's price per unit.
Cure Tracker
What are the default cure times?
- Soy Wax: 14 days
- Paraffin: 3 days
- Beeswax: 21 days
- Coconut / Parasoy: 14 days
You can customise cure days per project when creating it.
How do I mark a batch as ready?
Go to the Cure & Invoice tab. Batches that have finished curing show a "Mark Ready" button. Tap it to move the batch to the "Ready to Sell" section where you can create an invoice.
Invoicing
How do I create an invoice?
Tap "Create Invoice" on any ready batch in the Cure & Invoice tab, or tap the + button on the Invoices sub-tab. Add client details, line items, and tap Save. Invoices are automatically numbered.
How do I export an invoice as PDF?
Open any invoice and tap "Export PDF." Use the iOS share sheet to save to Files, email it, or share via Messages/WhatsApp.
Subscription
How much does CandleStudio cost?
After your 14-day free trial:

- $44.99/year (save ~46%, billed annually)
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → CandleStudio → Cancel Subscription. You'll keep Pro access until the end of your billing period.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Open CandleStudio → Settings (gear icon on any tab) → Restore Purchases. Your subscription will sync automatically via your Apple ID.
Privacy & Data
Is my data stored in the cloud?
No. All data is stored locally on your device using SQLite. We do not sync data to any cloud service or collect personal business information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What analytics do you collect?
We use PostHog to track anonymous feature usage (e.g., "user created a project") to improve the app. No personal information, photos, or business data is ever collected.
Troubleshooting
The app crashed or froze
Force-quit the app and reopen it. If the issue persists, restart your device. Contact support if the problem continues.
I can't export PDFs
PDF export requires iOS 13+ and may not work in the iOS Simulator. Please test on a real device. If issues persist, contact support.
My subscription isn't working
Tap the gear icon on any tab → Restore Purchases. If the issue persists, verify your subscription is active in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
My data disappeared after reinstalling
CandleStudio stores all data locally — it is not backed up to the cloud. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all local data. We recommend exporting important invoices as PDFs before uninstalling.
